Windows Picture & Fax Viewer

Every time that I look at photos on the Internet, they are transferred into
my "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer". Some page headings are also
transferred. My opening page pictures with world news is transferred. How do
I stop this? I have Photoshop to work with If I want to work with pictures.
Can I disable the "Picture and Fax Viewer"?
Thanks for any help, it is most annoying. Ron
