Hi, I just finally got finished cleaning my laptop from an infected virus.
Now during the process I think I may have deleted the Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer. Its nowhere to be found, I have tried reassociating picture files to
open with it but its just not there. I had downloaded ACD See but was having
some problems and uninstalled it ( it may be gone because of this)
Regardless, I was wondering how do I get it back? can I download it from
somewhere? I like it because its easy to use and quick. I've also tried to
change the option manually from the Folders Menu options but I browse but I
cannot find it. Any help would be great.

Well I tried that and it said that it succeeded, but then when I try to "open
with" Picture Viewer nothing happens.

Thanks for the reply, I've already tried that but nothing happened. I may be
doing it wrong I'm not sure. I did the download and ran it, but nothing
fixed.

Hey thanks for reply, I would love to undo the fixes, but I, like an idiot,
deleted the quaranteen files and also had turned off the system restore, I
couldn't have screwed this up more I don't think.

Ok I figured out what I needed to do.

So I opened a folder and went to "Tools" then "Folder Options"

Choose the Tab called "File Types"

Looked for "JPEG" under Registered File Types
Then clicked on the "Advanced" button.

From here chose "Open" in the "Actions" area and hit "Edit"

under the "Application used to perform action:" i replaced what was there with

rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1

then hit "OK" until you get back out. I think this was mentioned here
somewhere but nobody spelled it out for me so I couldn't figure it out.
Maybe this will help someone else that is looking for how to do it step by
step.

Thanks for the help

It's not fixed just orerridden. The menu normally comes from here
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers\ShellImagePreview

Try deleting whatever you just edited - the verb (Open or Preview) not the file type (jpeg).
