Windows PE versions - use WinPE 1.2 for WinXP-SP2??

All,

If I'm correct these are the versions of Windows PE
Windows PE original version - based on ?
Windows PE 1.1 workstation - based on Windows XP
Windows PE 1.1 server - based on ?
Windows PE 1.2 workstation - based on Windows XP SP1
Windows PE 1.2 server - based on Windows Server 2003
Windows PE 1.5 (aka Windows PE 2004) - based on Windows XP SP2
Windows PE 1.6 (aka Windows PE 2005) - based on Windows Server 2003 SP1

For some reason I'm unable to get my hands on the WinPE2004 version. Either
it got ripped from the VL-kit before I got to it, or it was not supplied. I
assume it should be part of all VL-kits right?

Would it be a problem to use WinPE1.2 and build a custom WinPE image using
the Windows XP SP2 CD as source?
It seems to work well.

If it is a problem, please specify the reason.

Thx,

M

There are no Server versions of Windows PE. The product is just Windows PE
xxxxxx
I will not correct the errors in your table as they are not relevant. (other
then there being no such thing as PE 2005).
Windows PE 2004 is available to you as a VL purchaser as long as you meet
the requirements
see
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/programs/sa/support/winpe.mspx

You can get the CD from your distributor or download it your self from the
VL we site (if you have access to that) and you can also check which CD it
shipped on and in which distribution period.
