i am dual booting windows xp professional x64 and vista. they each have
their own partition on my hard drive. i have installed, formatted, and
reinstalled vista several times. now, when my computer starts and the
windows boot manager comes up, it shows 3 installations of vista, but only 1
works. how do remove the 2 non-working vista listings?

Easiest way is to use either VistaBootPro or EasyBCD. Google for links.

Try VistaBootPro
