Hello, I am constantly on the look out for something to make my computer
faster...

I have Antivirus, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware and Cach cleaning programs, runs
scan disk and defragmenting freqently. Recently, I am lured to get this two
programs called Hare and Zoom

They claim to boost my PC performance by:

HARE
-Using a revolutionary compact 88-bit Kernel, which accelerates common
system instructions.
-RAM defragmentation
-Automatic RAM preservation
-Pre-programmed instructions compatible with nearly all PC games,

ZOOM
-Boost startups and shutdowns.
-accelerate startups, shutdowns, standbys, hibernations, and more.

Are these programs dangerous to my PC? I'm more worried about the hardware
as I can always reformat my drives. Also, how can pre-programmed instructions
make a game faster?

Lastly, what exactly does WinOptimize do?

Thanks A Lot !

Hi K:

I'm going to give it to you straight: Don't play with those useless toys.

Anti-malware programs don't make your computer run faster...they help to
protect you from malware.

Cache cleaning programs don't make your computer run faster...they just
clean your caches, which can help with certain error messages.

Disk error correction - also known as chkdsk - won't make your computer
run faster...it checks your hard disk for errors and usually fixes them.

To make your computer run faster, improve your hardware (more RAM,
faster hard disk, video card with more on-board memory) or eliminate
programs running in the background that consume a great deal of your
computer's resources.

There's a limit to how fast a computer runs, and once you're at that
limit no tweaking/optimizing software will make it go faster without
affecting its stability.

hahah thanks. my worst nightmare was to hear that getting better hardware is
the only answer.. but oh well the truth hears.

thanks again !

I would interpret Earl's message as including updating third party
drivers as and when they are available as part of the improve hardware
message. This costs nothing but it does need the user to exercise care
and judgement. Stay alert and respond to clues like Event Viewer
Warning and Error Reports when they occur.

Hope this helps.

Wes:

I once read about 'Hare.' I won't bore you with the details, but the
tortoise won the race. A relevant lesson here too. ;-)

I have Antivirus,

Good.

Good.

Good.

and Cach cleaning programs,

Probably bad. Exactly what is this software?

runs scan disk

I'm sure you don't, since there is no scandisk in Windows XP. Probably you
mean Chkdsk, but that doesn't need to be run frequently.

and defragmenting freqently.

Maybe good. It depends on how you use use your computer, but very few
people actually need to run it very frequently.

I've never heard of either of these, but it doesn't matter. All such
programs are snake oil. There's no way you can boost performance with such
software. I recommend staying far away from *any* such programs.

If you want something to make your computer faster, buy faster hardware.
Everything else is a fake (outside of normal protection and maintenance
tools)..

hi

I experienced that the software CCLEANER is better option to make your
PC performance better.

1. Over all its a freeware
2. Its cleans temp files(including INDEX.DAT), cookies,history, MEMORY
DUMPS,Old prefetch data, IIS Log file, Hotfix Uninstaller as well as
chkdsk file fragments & Other Explorer MRUs
3. It cleans issues related to MS MANAGEMENT CONSOLE & Regedit.
4. It scans Registry Integrity as well as File Integrity & resolve
issues successfully.

So what else require.....If we run MS Clean disk after using CCLEANER,
you will find nothing to clean its mean CCLEANER is working fine..
