Windows only opens up in VGA mode

Hello,

I have the following problem. My power supply died. I changed it and
restarted the PC. The boot session starts fine until when the blue
user menu should come up. Before the user menu ever comes up, the
monitor looks like it is going into sleep mode. The boot session
continues "normally" in the background. The only mode that I can use
to boot up is in VGA mode with minimal resolution parameters, and if I
try to increase the parameters, I loose the screen.

I tried to reset to the last known working configuration, and that did
not make any difference.

Going into the system menu, I checked my graphic card, which Windows
tells me works normally.

Any idea what the problem may be and what I could do?

Thanks

Reset your Display properties. Control Panel-Display. If you can't reset,
try reinstalling your video drivers. Then reboot.

Hi DandyDon,

Thanks for the advice. The control panel display was getting me back
to a black screen when I changed the settings to a higher resolution.
Reinstalling pilots from the VGA mode did the trick.
