Windows No Disk on start up

Z

Zipadeedoodaa

I do hope I'm in the right group.

On start up I get a dialogue box headed Windows No Disk and in the body of
the box it states :

Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c
75b6bf9c

This happens at about the same time as AVG 7.5 free edition launches to do
an automatic update on start up.

Could I ask if anyone has any idea as to what this problem is, and hopefully
,how I can correct it.

Many thanks indeed.

Hit F8 while the machine is booting (just after the bios messages...but
before windows loads) and select "safe mode"

If you can get to safe mode you can try running avg and remove auto-update.

Now reboot and see if the machine is OK...

if so...but it still crashes when AVG updates...you may want to try another
virus checker...

Does this issue reproduce itself if you started in Safe Mode?.
Try to start with a clean boot and see which program/App will be the culprit.

Then run a Disk clean Cleanup (note if your system is set to remember the

There is always a log file in the Event Viewer created for each
Successful/or Unsuccessful Log, so open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK]
There you will see three Options/Folders:

Thank you both for your help. I will have a go at it to try and sort it out.

I thought I had put this item in the wrong newsgroup and unfortunately I
posted it to another group in order to recover the position, having, at the
time, got no answer here.
I was subsequently pulled up by another contributor, for doing so. He made
no allowance for someone who knows little about these things and when you
endeavour to seek help you expect to get helpful advice, not admonishment.

Many thanks,

Neville

I am having the same problem as Nevelle. I was attempting to repalce Norton Antivirus 2006 and get the message on re-boot after I removed Norton. I used the latest version of the Norton Removal tool from thier web site. On the re-boot after removal, I get the no disk message above. I reinstalled the same version of Norton that I removed and the problem goes away. Tried removal second time with windows add or remove and the Norton tool and get same no disk error on re-boot. Again the problem goes away when Norton is reinstalled.

Since it is happening with both Norton and AVG, I wonder if is a a problem
with one of the reccent Windows XP fixes

Any help would be appreciated.

I got a response from Norton Tech Support on the no disk error. They are
telling me that this problem (No Disk Exception Processing Message c0000013
Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c) is caused by a security patch
released by Microsoft. They recommend contacting Microsoft with the problem.

Any ideas if Microsoft is working on a fix for the security patch? How do I
contact Microsoft? I can only find user forums on Microsoft site and do not
see any way to contact Microsoft Tech Support.

I have not found any solutions on any of the web forums that fix the problem
for me.

Do a google search on 'exception c0000013' and you'll find many ways this
problem has been fixed.

I have tried using google to look for fixes to this problem. The few that
have sucessfully corrected the problem for some users have not worked for me.
I have not tried any fixes that tell me to edit the Registry. That is way
beyond any of my technical skills and would do more harm than good.

Norton tech support is telling me that it is a Microsoft security patch
causing the error and not a Norton problem.

Anyone know if Micorsoft is working on this issue or how to contact Microsoft?

Norton blames MS for every one of their shortcomings. Learn how to edit the
registry. It is not difficult and is very beneficial for future problems.

I just started getting this message after I downloaded the Norton Antivirus
2007 program. It now takes my computer about 20 minutes start up time before
I can actually use my computer now. It used to be less than 5 minutes
warming up. I click cancel on the error message and then I'm ok to go. I've
tried everything Symantec has told me to do using there support and nothing
has helped.

What Error / Warning reports ( if any ) appear in the System log in
Event Viewer when you last booted the machine?

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

I went on-line with HP Support and they had me take the check mark off
Quicktime in the Start-up section and my computer is booting up much faster
and I haven't gotten the error message any more.
