windows msmessenger store, and deleted messages coming back

I am using Windows Vista 32 home premium and I am not able to run my Norton
due to the msmessenger store not being closed, and I cant find out how to do
this, so my back up and restore is not uptodate.

Also Im having deleted messages ending up in my sent box, and being told
that I have new emails when I dont. Can some one please help :)
