Message automatically deleted after opening

I am using Windows Mail in Vista 32 bit Home Premium. Recently I have been
encountering a problem with my e-mails. I open an e-mail and close it after
it is read. If I proceed to go to another folder and, then return to the
Inbox, the message that I read is no longer there. It doesn't go to the
Delete Folder or, any other folder that I have set up.

Does anyone know why this is happening and, how I can fix it.

Thanks.

While viewing the affected folder:
