Windows Movie Maker

I just downloaded movie maker 2 and installed it on to a
XP professional operating system. I edited some home
movies and it worked great, however when I tried to add
effects or transitions the program crashes. It will
always return to the same state it left before it crashed
but with no effects. Any help would be appreciated.
