Windows Movie Maker Profiles.

Does anyone know where WMM stores its WMV profiles?

There are a number of profiles listed in the "Movie Settings > Show More
Choices" box that are not shown in C:\Program Files\Windows Media
Components\Encoder\Profiles nor are they in "Movie Maker > Shared >
Profiles.

The one I am looking for is: Video for Broadband (512kbps).

Most of the profiles that come standard with Movie Maker are contained
within the programs DLL files.

Hi there, Wojo,

Many thanks for your reply.

Yes, there are eight .dll files in the Movie Maker folder. How can I read
those files to find the Profile information I want?

I've been using WMM and the "Video for Broadband (512kbps)" profile works
perfectly. I'm using another programme now and can't create an exact profile
without finding all the details.

I live in New Zealand so Pal is the capture option I use.
If I set the Video codec to Windows Media Video 9 the rendering is very
slow, but if I change it to 8 it flies.

This question is more up Papajohn's alley.
I'm sure he will chime in with something for you.

Hi Ted,

I saved a file rendered with the Pal 512 kbps option, and looked at it...
this should be enough info to clone the profile...

audio format WMV2 - Windows Media Audio 9.2
video format WMV3 - Windows Media Video 9
Pal - 25 fps
audio - CBR - 64 kbps bitrate, 44 kHz sample rate, 2 channel stereo
video 320x240, CBR, 448 kbps bitrate
keyframe interval - 6 seconds

Thank you Wojo.

Hi, PapaJohn,

Thank you for your reply.

I cloned the profile using your figures which were very similar to the ones
I'd used originally. I find that to get 512K to show in the display, I have
to enter 617K in the bitrate box. However, I used the settings you specified
and my Displayed bitrate ends up at 455Kbps.

With these settings I am capturing a WMV file with excellent video and
sound. However, after I trim and resave it I'm losing sound sync. the sound
seems to lag quite badly.
