Windows mouse pointer toggling

My mouse pointer (under XP Pro) is normally an arrow, buet every second it
momentarily changes to an arrow with a CD. I assume my system is performing
some CD activity every second, but why? There are no disks in any of the
drives. How can I regain control over this annoying "flickering"?

A Virtual CD program(which lets you create a virtual CD drive on your hard
disk) can also cause the same type of problem.Do you have anything such?
