Windows Mobile Device Center

Why is it that the Windows Mobile Device Center does not support sync'ing
between the device and Windows Contacts and Windows Calandar? I seriously
can't be the only person who is wanting this. I will not install Outlook on
my system as I have no need for such a large e-mail program, not to mention
everything I would want (Contacts, Calandar, Tasks) are now built into
Vista. I just can't sync them. Is this something planned and not yet
implimented, or is the most obvious Windows based sync solution being
ignored? I don't know anyone who wouldn't rather sync to Windows Calandar
than Outlook. Why include such a pleasent Calandar, but not include the
ability to sync it to your mobile devices (again, made by MS)? It's not like
MS is losing out on sales from Outlook, as every Windows Mobile device comes
with a free copy of Outlook either way.

Goodge,

Remember that Mobile Device Center is still only in Beta.

Due to that its possible they are limiting what can connect with/to it.

Officially the Beta supports:
· Microsoft® Outlook® XP, and Microsoft® Outlook® 2003 messaging and
collaboration clients
· Microsoft® Office XP
· Microsoft® Office 2003

It doesn't even officially support Office 2007 as of yet. I'm not sure if
the final release will support Windows Contacts and Windows Calendar as of
yet. It would be a fine feature, as you said, considering all the work
Microsoft put into improving it.

I'm certainly willing to accept waiting, if that's the plan. I just want to
make sure someone knows I'm here screaming for it! ;) I just can't imagine
how integration with the Windows Calendar would not be #1 on the list of
things to do, built that it's built into Vista. If I was a new user to
Vista and Windows Mobile, I'd be very confused as to why I have a calendar
built in that I can't sync to my device.

I actually already sent most of the same text from my initial post to that
address, so maybe, if they never thought of it already, they will now ;)
lol. Oh well, on to post my next complaint :D

Yeah, MS pays SOOOO much attention to home user's request regarding
ActiveSync/whatever they're calling it now. Like removing the ability to
sync over WiFi, and calling it a "feature". Or the only scheduled syncs can
be done when connected to an Exchange server...

Or have they added that capability back in Vista? That would be worth the
upgrade alone!

My big hope for Vista when I saw it had a built in Calendar was to finally
be able to manage my calendar on the computer, without some bloated thing
like Outlook. Calendar is a nice basic UI to do the job...and I can't sync!
I can't imagine that this will make it into RTM. Wait a second...this is
going to be one of those Ultimate features we know nothing about, isn't it?!
Now I know why this is going to cost me $400, haha.
