windows messenger

Hallo there, I'm running the 4.7 version of windows
messenger which is a part programm of windows xp.
I would like to know if I can install a newer version of
windows messenger which is 5.0(5.0.0482)without facing
any problems in my windows xp.
Do I have to remove firstly the 4.7 version or install
over it the newer one?

Windows Messenger 5 will upgrade 4.7 without a problem, there's no need to uninstall 4.7
first.
