windows messenger error

I have Windows Messenger 5.0
When I connect I get this error: "an HTTPS ot RCP
connection could not be nade".
I connect well using modem connection.
I cannot TRANSMIT using cable connection.
No firewalls or routers installed.

microsoft.public.msn.messenger.
