I am having trouble deleting listed files from the File
section of Windows Media Player. I have deleted the file
from my system but cannot get it off of the menu of the
file potion. My right mouse button does not seem to work
in order to delete with this program.
 
The recent file are stored in stored in the registry in a key called MRU.
(Most recently used) Each and every application has this MRU. For Windows
Media Player you should check the MRU of this. Doing manually may be
diffiult for u

To completely stop the recent files from adding to the file menu, perform
the steps given below in the registrty:

1.click start
2. click run
3. type regedit and press enter
4. browse to the following key

Create a new Binary value, or modify the existing value, called "AddToMRU"
and set it according to the value data below.
Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the
change to take effect

User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences]
Value Name: AddToMRU
Data Type: REG_BINARY (Binary Value)
Enter the value as 00

NOTE: backup the registry before performing the steps given above

To back up the registry perform the steps given below:

1. Click Start and choose Run.
2. Type Regedit and click OK.
3. Make sure there is only one entry called " My Computer " in the left
window if not click the ( - ) sign to bring it .
4. Click File and then click Export Registry File.
5. In the Export Registry File window select Save In as Desktop and type the
file name as Regbackup.
6. Make sure the " Export Range All option " is selected under Export
Registry Window while saving the registry
