Windows Media Player won't open

Just since last night my media player won't open. No
matter what I do, I can't get it to open. What happened?
Any ideas?
Today I went to Windows Update and couldn't find it there
to download all over again. I thought if I downloaded it
all over again, then it would work again, but I couldn't
even do that.
My Spybot S&D didn't find anything that would cause it not
to work. I'm stumped.
