Windows Media Player stopped working

I just discovered that my Windows Media Player 11 no longer works - it
appears to load but then nothing.

I then downloaded the file and re-installed it - same problem.

Suggestions please.

WMP hates to have trouble with sound drivers. Use Device Manager to to try
to fix that.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight each sound device, Action
menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers again
automatically.

Tried your suggestion but no luck. I then rolled back to WMP version 10. Now
when I try to run it says "internal application error"
