Windows Media Player sound not working

when I load a CD, the track plays, but there is no sound. Sound works in all
other application, such as other DVD players on the computer and winamp. I
checked the Volume Properties already, and the CD player sound is fine. What
is wrong? How can I fix this?

This may sound obvious, but you haven't got the volume muted in WMP
have you?? (It's the button next to the volume slider)
