Windows Media Player problems

I have a new computer with Windows Xp Pro with all the lastest service
packs. I also am using windows media player 9 and have updated it from
microsoft. The problem i have is some of the movies I download from the
internet I can not see the whole screen clearly. Usually parts of the very
bottom of the screen are fuzzy or grainy. Almost like it is catching up to
playing the video. Any ideas? I am at a lost at what to do next.
The real kicker is the movies are sharp on my older computer that also uses
Windows XP Pro and Windows media Player 9!!
