Windows Media Player demands older driver version than the one installed

When I double-click on a video I get the WinAmp error message "The file
wmp.dll has a version number of 10.0.0.3990 when 10.0.0.3802 was
expected. WMP must be reinstalled."
I never saw that a program demands on older version of anything than the
one installed. Any idea how to handle the situation ?
