Windows Media Player Burner

I have been burning CD's without a problem since I bought my HP laptop.
However all of a sudden this afternoon I went to burn a CD and I got a
message saying that I need to connect the burner and restart the player. I
have no idea why this started or what to do to fix it. My burner is built
into my computer so I'm not sure how I can connect it. I saw that some other
people had this problem too. Does anyone know what to do to fix it? Thanks!

Reboot and try again. Look at Computer in Explorer to see if the drive is
there. Check the drive by playing a good cd or dvd. The drive might have
failed or Windows just lost track of it. It should come back after rebooting.

I have tried to reboot the computer a few times. I tried to play a normal
(not burned) CD and the computer won't even pick up that there is a CD in.
I'm totallu confused! Thanks for responding and for the help. Do you have any
other ideas?

You should reinstall the driver. The driver could have got corrupted or
accidentally deleted by the system. You can also go to their website and
download their driver update or something. They do have a tendency to be
hyperactive and update their drivers every so often.
