i have XP Media Center Edition 2005

what, if any, services does wmplayer 11 add ? since i've installed it
on my machine, windows has been sluggish (i even went into WMP 11 and
disabled anything that was networked based); I just bought this
machine, its an HP dual core with 2G ram 300G hd so it shouldn't be
sluggish like this.

It shouldn't be causing a problem like that. I've had V/11 for a long time
and it hasn't caused any problems. First I would do is uninstall, see if the
computer is then running ok, and then install again.

What are the advantages of 11 over 10?

I read the whole thing, nothing new except what I can already do with
Nero and Urge. I don't buy songs on line. Oh, and the eye candy look is
horrible.

I'll stick with WMP10 and not risk installing something that might screw
up my computer. The only thing I use WMP for is ripping music and, even
at 60, unlike what the article says, I can remember which artist is who
and which album is which.

After a cursory read, I don't see anything that 11 does that 10
doesn't do, other than the new look.

After a cursory read, I don't see anything that 11 does that 10 doesn't
do, other than the new look.

See the DRM FAQ at...

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/drm.mspx

"If you are using Windows Media Player 10 and you have backed up
your licenses, you can try to restore them. (It is not possible to
back up and restore licenses in Windows Media Player 11.)"

So the crippleware risks of "protected" files appear to be worse with
Windows Media Player 11, and if you use such files, that may well be
reason enough to avoid WMP 11.

Drugs are usually safe. Inject? (Y/n)

Sorry to bother you, but I was reading through Groups and saw that you
seem to know about Windows Media Player 11, and I can't seem to figure
out how to save streamed video on to my hard drive. With 10 it was
really easy, you would just watch the whole streamed video, and then
when it was done, go to file and save: boom. Now, with it's
"streamlined" look, I have no idea where the save function is. Do you
happen to have any clues as to this?

Thanks in advance,

You really shouldn't post a new question as a reply to an old thread. Make
a new post. Also I would think you would want to post this to the media
player newsgroup.
