Windows Media player 10

Hello I bought a new computer for the wife in Dec with windows media plater
10 installed. All went well at first but now when my wife tries to play a
song the error message Windows media player is not installed properly. and
must be reinstalled. My question is after downloading it again do I have to
uninstall what I can in add-remove programs. I realize that there are some
parts that can not be uninstalled but should I uninstall what I can or does
it not make any difference if I do not.

Hello,

If you can uninstall the old Media Player, do it before reinstalling the
Media Player 10.

This makes for a 'cleaner' installation as the old installation might have
some files that the new one does not need.

Media Player 11 is now out anyway, so just download and install it. Don't
worry about uninstalling the previous version.

Just run the downloaded WMP10 installation file. It will "repair
" the old installation in most cases, at least it did for me.

My advice...DON'T INSTALL WMP11 unless you want problems. WMP10
is better...my opinion.

Install it overtop of the old one, it is designed that way.
