yea i used to have the old version but now i have the new but i do not like
it. How do I go back to the old?

Not, I'm afraid. Unless you can perform a System Restore (in XP accessible
through System Information), but be aware of the implications!

If it is a visual matter you dislike, you may be able to change it.
Refer to the Help file of WMP10, section "Customizing the Player".
 
I've lost all my compliation lists with the automatic transfer from 9 to 10.
It will take me weeks to restore and some will be lost forever - Version 10
is a complete disaster for me.

I cannot comprehend how Microsoft could have done something so stupid
 
You don't have a backup?

Have you checked the My Playlists folder?
