My computer has dowloaded and installed Windows Malicious Software Removal
Tool - October 2006 (KB890830) multiple times and widows update keeps on
downkoading it, what do I need to do to stop this. It's driving me crazy

Completely normal. Each month the Tool is updated to look for new threats.

If that's something that 'drives you crazy' then, my friend, you need to
get out more.

It's not normal if it makes a new (8MB+) file each time instead of overwriting the previous one.

If that's something that 'drives you crazy' then, my friend, you need to get out more.

Or, just go to the Windows/Microsoft Update site and select Hide This Update to prevent the MRT from being part of the update.

In Ted Zieglar had this to say:

Unless, I suppose, it'd downloading it multiple times this month? If so then
(I don't know the answer) you might want to take a gander in the updates
newsgroup as you should only see it once a month.
