KB890830 and KB928365 updates keep appearing

WinXP Pro SP2: I have installed these two updates multiple times via
Microft Update:

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - July 2007 (KB890830)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB928365)

Each time, the installation is reported to have succeeded. I have
KB928365 showing in my Add/Remove list. Yet, each time I check
Microsoft Update, KB890830 and KB928365 appear, as if I haven't
installed them.

I've also downloaded and installed the updates from the Microsoft
download center. It makes no difference--the updates still appear on
Microsoft Update.

Why does this happen, and how can I get it resolved?

The Malicious Software Removal Tool runs every time you do a Windows update.

However, the security update for .NET framework should only be installed
once (unless the former keeps removing the latter - Hmm).

Sorry, but no, it doesn't. It's installed monthly (typically), and once
a particular version is installed, it's not supposed to appear again in
the update list.

I do my updates longer than monthly, and the tool runs every time I update.

Right - evey month there is a NEW VERSION of it.
For all of those updates that you don't want -
Normally mine is OFF , but occasionally I turn on " Notify but do not
download/install " option for Autoupdate. Then it finds the new ones.
Choose CUSTOM ( not Typical) and then uncheck ' The Malicious Software
Removal Tool ' for ; the MONTH'. Then Check ' do not bother me again about
this' do your updates. Next time you run update, it will find the PREVIOUS
months " Malicious Software Removal Tool '. I just did mine in July and I
got notified about it for JULY. I chose don't bother me again' about THAT
ONE update. CLick UPDATE again and I get notified of JUNE's Malicious
Software Removal Tool , then May, each months outstanding one . If you run
August then all others OK - it considers those ' done'. If you never
run/download them then have to unselect each one.
