Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.de', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 Cannot

Does your connection to that server cross over from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it reaches the server? If so, such
connections
to port 25 are often blocked to cause problems for spammers, and you need
to ask yahoo.de if their outgoing email server listens for outgoing mail on
any
port other than port 25, and if so, where to find their instructions for
switching
over to the other port. Just trying all the ports is a very slow way to
find out,
since there are about 65,000 ports available.

Also, unknown errors in Windows Mail are often due to interference from an
antivirus program. What if any antivirus programs do you have?

Cheers had read you advising someone else to try this fix but wasn't sure if
it was applicable to Yahoo. Just tried it and the e-mail flew out. Cannot say
for certain that I am fixed but would appear so (this fault is so
intermittant). I had also increased Server TimeOuts to 2 mins from 1 min..can
I leave this at 2 mins?

thanks for the speedy reply Robert had another reply from Gary VanderMolen
which gave me the info I needed for the new Port number (527). Will see if
the fix continues.

Good to hear port 587 is working for you.

It doesn't hurt to leave the server time-out at 2 minutes.
