Lose the caps for a start.
Why would you exchange Windows Mail for Outlook in the first place?

If you want to be treated as shouting, and therefore receive fewer
useful answers, post in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.

When Outlook is uninstalled, it fails to reselect Windows Mail as
the default email program. To correct this:
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows
Mail. If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

Incidentally, please don't type in all CAPS.

I have the very same problem as you Linn, and if you are shouting I can
understand way. I have spent days looking for an answer to this problem. I
have so many time tried to make my Windows Mail the default mail server but
it just won’t happen. I have the same grayed out default boxes in Windows
Mail options too. 2 weeks ago I had to reload my Vista 64 because I as far as
I can tell NERO 8 screwed up my machine. I reloaded it from a back up and
botched it while doing so. After installing a fresh load of Vista I applied
my saved back-up file to it and reloaded all my applications. The OS and
app's are working fine except for Windows Mail and IE7 Flash add-on. I'm
stumped, I have gone through and edited the registry, I have done it all,
still no workie'. I like Vista; I have had a sign Bill Gates copy of U64
running since day one. Got rid of all the krap memory hungry software. I
believe it is better that XP except with XP I had control of
E-mail and Internet IE7. I could uninstalled the app's and reinstall if I
had a problem. With Vista I can't and the only help I can find to my email
problem, GO TO DEFAULT PROGRAMS AND MAKE WINDOWS MAIL DEFAULT. See I raised
my voice because I am JAFFO.

If any one knows how to fix this and my IE7 flash problem please let me
know. Just remember I have been doing this since 286-computer day's
whhhooooohaa.
Think this is a bug in the Vista service pack 1 and it is going to take
someone who is pretty nifty at this stuff for a fix. Sat 041208 is my dead
line before I reformat my drive and try again. :-(.

You're likely to get more help for your IE7 problem in this newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser

Mention that it's IE7 and under which version of Vista, in case it
matters.

As Robert already indicated, this is not the right forum for resolving
a problem with IE7.

Were you able to resolve your Windows Mail problem by going
to Default Programs? If not, tell us more about that; we may be able
to help.
