Windows Mail

I have just started with Vista and Windows Mail. I hate Windows Mail
already... too many things that are, in my opinion, not as good as good old
Outlook Express. Is there a way I can transfer my OE program from my old
computer to Vista and use OE as my default email function?

Outlook Express won't run under Vista. Some people prefer Windows
Live Mail, Microsoft's new email program to run under Vista:

Thanks for the reply. I looked at Live Mail briefly. Do you not have to use
a Hotmail address for Live Mail? I want to use the same address I've had for
sometime now. The other option I know of is using Mozilla's Thunderbird.
What do others think?

As a side, I can't believe that MS put out an email program without BCC and
the capability to NOT advertise everyone's email address when the sender
wants to send to multiple addressees.

You can use a Hotmail address if you want to, but it will also use the
same kind of addresses Windows Mail will use.

Thunderbird has been mentioned as an email program some people
prefer to use. The setup in Windows Mail will transfer to Windows Live
Mail without much trouble, but it's harder to get it into Thunderbird.

As far as the BCC line, it's reachable in Windows Mail. This isn't the
usual newsgroup for asking if it will work in Windows Live Mail.
I think the one you need is microsoft.public.window.live.desktop.

Open a new mail window>view menu of the new mail>All Headers>close the new
mail window.
Next time you create a new mail, all the options will be available to you.

Please Elaborate?

Thanks for the reply. I am talking about the BCC and omitting email
addresses in WINDOWS MAIL, not Live Mail. If I can add the BCC line in
Windows Mail please indicate how because I cannot find it. Any answers to
the omitting email addresses for multiple addressees? Thanks again...

Thanks Mac... that solved that problem painlessly... I searched on Help and
couldn't find it thus my questions here. The other thing is hiding email
addresses. When I send to multiple addressees I don't like to give all
everyone's email address. This is how some people 'harvest' addresses
because I don't know who someone I address may address down the line. Using
the BCC will help that some because I can just send the email to myself and
BCC it to everyone else. Thanks again...

Mac already told you how to get the BCC line.

I don't know if you can omit email addresses, but if so that's only for
what Windows Mail shows you. If they are omitted from the outgoing
mail, the messages won't arrive. Addresses on the BCC line go only
to the same addressee as the address refers to, though, and I believe
are seldom shown to the addressee even when the mail arrives.
