How to alphabetize the names in my address book [now called "contacts"] by
the LAST NAME?

I brought over some 250 names from Outlook Express. Now, in Windows Mail
the first name is listed alphabetically.

There is a way to list the last name first on a name-by-name basis, but it's
tedious doing that 250 times. Can it be done as a global default?

Summary -- How to list last name first in the address book?

Thanks.

Hi RJM,

one idea is to add "last name" on the display bar.

Therefore join the contact folder, click with the right mouse button on the
display bar, select "more", put then a checkmark on "last name". Now you may
sort your address files by the last name.

Hope this idea is beneficial for you.

Thanks for the reply. I have already done that [clicking "last name" in the
more options], but the contact list still shows the first name in
alphabetical sequence.

I want to do this with one or two clicks -- not 250 clicks!

If I add a new contact -- no problem with last name first.

I have solved the problem by using Mozilla Thunderbird.

Thanks again for taking the time to send a logical solution --

But...I talked to "customer service". The rep told me that with Vista and
Windows Mail, last name first not possible with names brought over "en bloc"
from Outlook Express. Have to do it one name at a time.
