Windows Mail unable to locate Message Database

I know theres been a few posts similar to this already, however I havnt seen
an error quite like this.

I open windows mail and it errors "Windows mail could not be started. The
application was unable to open the Windows Mail message store. Windows Mail
was unable to locate its message database. If you've moved the database
files to a new location, click OK to reset the database path to that
location. Otherwise, click Cancel to proceed, any existing messages found
will be available under Oprphaned Accounts. (0x00000000).

I then chose the folder where the mail database is located and it errors:
Windows Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the
Windows Mail message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your
diskspace full. (0x80004005).

And lastly, like all the other posts it errors that MSOE.DLL could not be
initialized.

I've checked the event viewer and i AM getting ESENT logs claiming the
database engine stopped the instance.

So far I've tried to reset the database by following instructions in other
threads, but instead of Windows Mail starting fresh, it continues to give me
these errors.

Any help is appreciated

Move everything in the message store to a subdirectory under Documents. The
Windows Mail directory should be completely blank. Then start WinMail and
it should work okay. Then you can use File | Import and point to the moved
directories to get the messages back.

I have exactly the same situation.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security, which I already closed the e-mail
scan function.

I tried Steve's suggestion of resetting Windows Mail. It did not work.

I also installed the Windows Live Mail. It also did not work. Starting
WLM, the same error messages pop up.

Any more tricks I can try?

Ever since I was forced to use Vista which came with my new NB, I had
lots of struggles with it. Vista sucks!!!

I have the same error, I'm running Norton Antivirus Software 2007, I also
made some modifications to my account and I think this started to happen
since then but I'm not sure. I created another account with Administrative
privileges and put my current account to a User account for security reasons.

Norton antivirus programs often cause problems in Windows Mail, although
usually not immediately. McAfee does too, and probably Trend. Watch for
the reccomendations on which antivirus programs work with WM, at least
if you do a custom install that doesn't install the part for scanning email.
