Windows Mail the news group client

Mr. Arnold

When posting to MS public NG(s), all of a sudden over the last two days, I
get this error message. I save the post as a draft, logoff the machine and
then logon again, and then I am able to send the post, because the message
will not go away.

The message is this *An error occurred while attempting to display the
Windows Live ID sign-in display.*.

If I logoff and back on when attempting to send the post, the message may
show 1 or 2 times, but I can send the post, eventually.

As far as I know there is no way to correct this. I don't know whether the
problem is in Windows Mail or in the Communities servers, but I usually just
close and reopen WinMail.

BTW, I've never had this problem with Windows Live Mail Desktop, or whatever
its name is today.

I tried closing WM, but the message will not go away and just sits there and
keeps coming back when the OK button is used. I don't recall, but I think OK
is the only button I can use, otherwise, I could cancel out of it.

My only option is to logoff and back on again.

There is a Cancel button.

This message is no big deal, unless you rely (?) on the Communities features. It
happens intermittently all the time. Just click Cancel and ignore.
No need to reboot. Just a piece of fluff in my opinion.

Have you tried turning off the Communities feature?
Tools > Options > General > uncheck "Use newsgroup message rating features"

It's not where you indicate that it's at, which is off of the MS Communities
folder of the folder list, for lack of better words, where you right-click
MSC and select Properties. In Properties there is a Live ID tab that has 3
settings I can use to control the Live ID and logging on with it.

Thanks

My Properties for the Communities news server has no Live ID tab,
probably because long ago I used the turn-off method I described above.
Your method gives finer-grained control. Mine gets rid of it entirely.

If you hit Cancel and then close WinMail and then reopen it then you can
sign on again, if you want. The problem arises if you open a message
outside of WinMail. Then it starts with that looping error message. You
don't need to log off though.
