Windows mail [SPAM] notice

I keep getting the [SPAM] notice in the subject of emails from people I know
or even when I send one to myself. Why does it do this?
 
McAfee AntiVirus adds that when it scans mail.

I recommend you go to the McAfee website and download their uninstaller
file, and download either free Avast4 or free AVG to replace it.

It is being added by some other program on either your machine or your mail
provider's server.
