Windows Mail is somewhat slow on my computer also. Takes much longer than
Outlook Express under XP. I think MicroSquish will have an update soon.

There could be other issues, but I have seen this before.

Windows Mail takes forever to load on my system. Probably 10 to 15 seconds
to load from when the splash screen pops up until everything is loaded on

You might want to give Windows Live Mail Beta a try. It's reportedly suppose
to eventually take the place of Windows Mail:

Did you update Windows today? If so, and if you have Spybot installed,
update KB933566 MAY be the problem - caused issues with WinMail
on my machine - just like KB 931768.

I've run into this from time to time. You might want to run the WMUtil from
MVP Steve Cochran. It has options to compact and repair the mail database.
It resolved the issues here.
