Unknown errors in Windows Mail are often due to interference from
an antivirus program. What is any antivirus programs do you have,
and have you ever had a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on
that machine?

Also, see if these instructions help:

Some of these instructions were written for Outlook Express, but
should also work under Windows Mail.

Sure, I'm using Norton Antivirus program right now. So, do I need to delect
that program or what do I need to do?

Most versions of the Norton antivirus program eventually cause problems
in Windows Mail, but seldom immediately. To stop them from creating
new problems, you need to uninstall them, not just disable them. You
then often need to run this cleanup program to take care of what the
uninstall often leaves behind:

You may even need to remove your email account under Windows Mail,
then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.

I'm not sure that Windows Mail can handle any of the Hotmail accounts,
though, or any other email provider that only offers HTTP accounts.

If this cures your problem, you may want a replacement antivirus program
that doesn't cause such problems.

Most versions of the McAfee antivirus program and a recent version of the
Trend antivirus program are bad choices; they also cause problems in
Windows Mail. I recommend either avast! or AVG, either one with a
custom install where you tell it to leave out the part that scans email.

You're welcome.

Are messages you've been trying to send piling up in the Outbox? If so,
click on the Outbox and either move these messages to the Drafts
folder or delete them. If you find any that refuse to do either, download
and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more, but takes longer to
install.
