Windows Mail sending truncated links to browsers

Hi, I hope someone can help me out here.

I'm having an odd problem when I try to open some links sent in emails.

I'm a member of a messageboard and, as such, I receive emails detailing when
a reply has been posted. These take the form of...

The-website-name/board/viewtopic.php?p=29054#29054

....which directs the browser to open the page at the specific post.

However, when the link arrives at the browser (I've tried this in both IE7
and firefox with the same result), it has been trimmed to read...

The-website-name/board/viewtopic.php?p=29054

....which just dumps me at the top of a (sometimes very long) page.

It happens with any link containing the hash symbol. Moving the hash around
in the address results in the link being truncated at the point where the
hash is.

While not life and death, it's an annoying problem that I'm hoping to sort
out.

Does anyone know how to remedy this? Thanks.

If the number after the hash is the same as the number before the hash
you may try typing the hash and the second number after the first
attempt fails.

If I'm not mistaken, this is a known issue with Windows Mail and
Windows Live Mail. The characters after the hash mark are deleted
when sent to the browser. All you can do is append the hash mark
part manually in the browser's address bar.

Thanks guys, it would appear that re-inserting the missing bit by hand is the
only remedy at the moment. I found a similar post with more or less the same
response on another site after I'd posted this.

Shame really. The only blemish on my Vista experience thus far. Hope it gets
a fix.

You're welcome. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.
That bug is not likely to get fixed in Windows Mail, but there is hope
that it will be fixed in the next release of Windows Live Mail.
