Windows Mail Send/Receive Error in Vista Home Premium

Steve Sohn

This just started to happen with Windows Mail: I do a send/receive and it
works fine, then I do another and I get the send/receive dialogue box with
yellow triangle and a message:
"Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review
the list of errors below for more details."

Both the tasks and errors tabs are blank, no list of errors. I can click
HIDE and then do a send and receive by going to TOOLS and receive all then
send all, but if I try to use the icon or the send/receive command I get the
above message. If I shut down and reopen, it works fine the first time.

My antivirus is OneCare, so I guess it must be compatible.

Try this:
Click on Tools, Options, Security, Digital IDs. Under the Personal tab
you may see a digital ID. Highlight it and click the Remove button.
Restart Windows Mail and see if there is improvement.

Spoke with Microsoft support for about an hour and a half. Turns out it was
Windows OneCare virus program. It was set to look for "virus-like behavior"
and to action against moderate software behavior. Deselecting these resolved
the issue and that was what was causing the problem.

Thanks for reporting back. It will help us assist those who have the same
problem in the future. These must be new settings in OneCare since I
don't remember seeing those settings when I used OneCare some
22 months ago.

I would post a screenshot, but I do not believe there is a way to do that.

Under the Virus tab is a check box: "Also look for virus-like behavior."

And:

"Take autmatic actios against software rated Moderate also"

I had exactly the same problem as Steve on a brand-new laptop with no
pre-installed antivirus software. After hours of frustration I finally
tracked the poblem to duplicate settings in the News accounts. I deleted the
News accounts and voila!, send/receive now works fine.

Thanks for your report.
It is unusual for a news account problem to interfere with email.

I have been trying to get this fixed for months. You are correct i had 2 new
accounts. Removed one and now it works just fine.

Thanks
