Windows Mail Security login problem

Hello,

Im trying to check my e-mail using Windows Mail, something I do very
frquently without any problems, but this time there is a popup asking me to
verify my username and password for my mail server.

I currently use two different mail servers, one for sending, one for
recieving. So I proceed to enter every combination of username and password I
can think of. I also opened up the "Accounts" page to check that I am using
the right username.

I know the passwords for both accounts, and I know the account name, and yet
it still is not letting me log in!

Is there a different username or something that I should be using?
And why is it randomly asking me to verify? Ive never gotten this box before.

That type of error is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off.

I havent changed any of my firewall settings recently. I am only using an
expired copy of Norton Antivirus that came with my laptop when I bought it.

Like I said, I havent changed any of the settings recently, nor have I
applied any patches or updates prior to this happening.

Norton antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
Symptoms often don't start until months later.
The only way you can prove or disprove that Norton is the culprit is to
uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool:

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is more
resistant to the adverse effects of aggressive antivirus products:

In any case you must disable any antivirus email scanning, for the reason
explained here:
