Windows Mail rule to change color doesn't work

Peter

Hi,

Any solutions to this problem ?

I have a couple of mail rules that change the color of the mail based on
content in subject and/or body
These rules do NOT include "stop processing more rules" because these same
mails are (by later rules) put into subfolders.

I swear I saw this working ... but lately I noticed the color is never
applied (anymore ?)

It still works when I manually apply these rules to the selected folders
where the mails ended up, but that's not the idea. It should happen
automatically so that I see that the mail contains content I need to check.

As a test I set "stop processing more rules" to one of these rules and sure
enough the color WAS changed now.

So why is the color not changed (or changed back to default) when the email
is placed in a subfolders ?

This always worked very nicely in OE btw.

You mainly answered your own question, in the message rule list, use the up
or down arrows to achieve what you want, rules are applied in the order that
they are set.

See, http://www.insideoe.com/tips/rules.htm For any insight?

I'm very aware of that, in fact I like to think that I'm quite handy with it
and I have close to a hundred rules working for me (Mainly to put in
subfolders).
The color changing is applied BEFORE the mail is diverted to a subfolder.
However it doesn't work, meaning the color is not changed, and it seems to
be because the mail is put in a subfolder afterwards, because if I stop the
processing at the moment of color changing the color *is* applied.
It's as if the color is changed back to default when the mail is directed to
a subfolder.

I did some tests and if the email, in a later rule, is *not* put in a
subfolder, the coloring sticks, but if the mail is put in another folder, by
a later rule, the coloring is gone.

A Windows Mail bug ?
