Windows Mail or a Vista Problem?

This is making no sense!

I'm running Vista Ultimate with Windows Mail. Early this morning, I was checking my mail, reading and posting to newsgroups, and things are going well.

Then I went to get a cup of coffee, came back, and went to check my mail again. And I'm getting the following error message:

" Account: 'bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR login failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"

Obviously there is no problem in posting to newsgroups. When I check mail the other servers I check have no problem, and I have no problem with my various IM's.

Is this a server problem, a Vista problem, a Windows mail problem, a router problem, something else or combination of some of these or all of these problem?

Perplexed!

You can check your mail settings by calling your mail provider. You may be
told at the same time that the mail server at their end is having problems..

So I checked with ATT/BellSouth as per your advice. They claim I was in something they called a "hung session" -- they reset me from the central office and all is okay now.

Why does this kind of thing always happen on the weekend? :)

Thanks, Mike!
