I'm having the same problem and I am on the bellsouth/att system. I checked
and htere were some major updates that needed to be done. However I am
uncertain if AT&T has done anything on the server that might affect Windows
Mail. I'll let you know what happenes with the updates

Dear golfforeit
I believe I have solved you Windows Mail problem, but it's tricky and I'll
try to guide you along the best I can.
First, get into Mail and hit Tools, then accounts.
Click on the account your trying to fix, then hit Properties on the right
side. This is where it gets tricky.

On the first page that comes up, there is probably mail.bellsouth.net.
Delete it and Replace it with fpostoffice.isp.att.net.

Next, go to the Servers Tab. Under Incoming Mail, put in:
fpostoffice.isp.att.net
Under Outgoing Mail: fmailhost.isp.att.net
Then at the bottom of the box, there should be the a box called settings.
Mark the box next to it with a check (about authentication) and hit Settings.
Make sure in the box that comes up, the box that is checked says: Use same
settings as incoming mail server. Then exit out of that.

After that, hit the Advanced Tab. Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP). Put in the
number 465, and check the box marked "server requires secure connection
(SSL).
Under Incoming mail, put in the number 995, and mark the same checkbox under
it.

After you have done all this, go back and make sure you have done all the
steps, and you have the proper address in, then hit the Apply and OK buttons.
Then close out.

Lastly, (You should be back on the main page where you can check your mail
now) Go to the tab marked Send/Receive and hit Receive All. It should now
ask for your authentication, so put in your email address and your account's
password. It should now bring up all your new mail.

If you have any problems, please reply or go to this website:
"helpme.att.net"
Follow the instruction on the page, and it should give you the info you
desire. Good luck

Please don't recommend a specific fix unless you know for sure it applies
to the other person. AT&T has different servers and settings depending on
which former division you were under (SBC, Bellsouth, WorldNet).
