Some clown caused a complete crash with my computer using Vista Home Premium.
The OEM disk has no repair function so I had to reinstall. All the old
installation was moved to a directory called Windows.old. I am now battling
to recover the mail but don't know where it is what it is called.

Help Please

Thanks Don

The OEM disc HAS got a repair function.
Used mine last week. Booted from the OEM DVD and did a system restore from
it. Easier than XP!

This OEM install disk was used to install on a new PC. It definitely DOES NOT
have a restore function. The company is MECER. In any case the damage is
done. I NOW WANT TO KNOW THE NAME OF THE MAIL FOLDER AND ITS EXTENSION SO
THAT I CAN RECOVER IMPORTANT MESSAGES

Don,

Your messages should be located at "C:\Users\(your
username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders". The
email messages will have the ".eml" extension.

When you explore the directory Windows.old, what subdirectories
do you see? Is there on called Users?

Thank you everybody. I have recovered all the mail for Windows Mail. Can
anybody tell me the extension name for Thunderbird mail?
