Windows Mail Issue

It is insignificant but annoying and I would like to correct it:
When opening my E-mail with the Windows Mail icon in the start program, my
internet connection closes and I have to reconnect. Otherwise everything
works fine.
What can I do about it?
Seems to have started after my last System Restore, but not necessarily so.
OS: WinVista Home Premium w. SP1.

Do you use System Restore often? What was the reason for it the last
time?

Only twice and the last time I had the blinking cursor in the upper left
corner of the screen.
The SR was initiated through the system during recovery efforts.
Apparently the cause for the mishap was determined as the download of some
specific software, but I did not download anything prohibitive.
Any ideas?

Thank you, Mort.

Thanks for directing this post over here.

Two things to do, WM>tools>options>connection tab>Change button, ensure that
never dial a connection is selected>apply/OK.

Tools>accounts>select account>properties>connection tab>remove the check
mark from 'always connect using', WM will now use any available connection.

HTH?

As soon as I get to this point, winmail stops responding and when clicking
to cancel, because it keeps on searching, I'll have to start over again.
Is it advisable for me to delete and reactivate my dial-up connection, since
something may have been corrupted through SR?

It means that particular mail account is corrupted.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, then click Remove.
Restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

Meanwhile I had to uninstall AVG because it wanted me to register, even
though it claimed to be free when installing. Just finished replacing it
with the latest Avast 4,8 Home Edition vers.
Will do according to your instructions a.s.a.p. It definitely makes sense.
Thank you and let you know the results.

As promised and worked like a charm; thank you very much, Gary.
