Firefox uncooperative

Is there a way to circumvent the nuisance of the Firefox trying to force you
to restart
after changing websites without closing the previous one?
And that is the site was closed, but apparently not the way Firefox likes it
and he presents you with this annoying message.
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, 32 bit.
No problems otherwise.
TIA,

Harry.

That isn't the way Firefox works for me.

Why don't you go to the Firefox forums? Or at least look at their help
files and FAQs? You are more likely to get help on Firefox issues there.

Or if you persist in asking here, at least give a hint as to which sites
cause your problem. You could even tell us the contents of "this annoying
message" to give us a clue.

I don't know what you're talking about. Firefox has never forced me to
restart when I change web sites. I'm certain this is not a common
problem - no browser would be as popular as is Firefox if it regularly
did what you describe. It's got to be a problem on your end, not a
Firefox problem

In any case, it's not a Windows problem. You should ask in a Firefox
newsgroup, such as those hosted at

news://news.mozilla.org/mozilla.support.firefox

and you should be prepared to provide a whole lot more information than
you have here.

We were both typing at the same time, and both saying pretty much the same
thing. Great minds and all that, but you also posted the link to mozilla's
newsgroup - thanks, I'll try to remember it.

I keep the Mozilla server with the Firefox and Thunderbird groups set
up in my newsreader, but I don't refer to them very often. I should,
though - I've learned a few useful tricks there. Seems to me Comcast
used to mirror the Mozilla groups, but none of the news servers I use
new seem to have them. Google does, though.

What I described was, that when closing a site and opening another one,
Firefox tells me to close the previous one first or restart, even though I
did close it already.
Don't know how much more information I could give.
But I will make due with what's available and get it solved.
Thanks for your and Gene's contribution.
Linux doesn't come into the picture here at all and I run both,
IE 8 and the latest version of Firefox.

Right after my previous reply to you, I set up the Mozilla server in Dialog
and added the Firebox and Thunderbird groups. Now I won't forget about
them!

I just set up news.mozilla.org (with no login ID or password), so I don't
need a mirror.

Thanks.
