I have followed the export direction posted by several people here and am
recieving an error when exporting emails to an external hard drive. I am
using Windows Vista 32bit and Windows Mail

What I am doing in Windows Mail:

File > Export > Messages > Microsoft Windows Mail
Browsing to my external hard drive and selecting a pre-created folder.

Selected folders > choosing one of many folders.

The I recieve the Message export has failed.
An error has occured.

ANy idea what I am doing wrong?

Export to an empty folder on your computer's hard drive. Then
copy that to your external drive.
Windows Mail does not like to export to external devices.

Windows Mail often has problems reading or writing external drives.
Try exporting it to a previously empty directory you create on your
hard drive, then copying that entire directory to your external drive.

Exactly the problem, all my email folder exported with ease to a folder on
the desktop then I copied that folder over to the external. Now I can load up
my other computer as another back up.

Thanks a ton guys!
