Windows mail errors

I get the following message when I try to use Windows Mail

Account: 'mail.hughes.net', Server: 'mail.hughes.net', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] invalid user or password', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
Mozilla Thunderbird does not work but does not give error codes. Both work
fine on my 'XP' computers using the same mail settings. I have removed
Norton and used the removal tools.
