When Vista had a problem and I couldn't boot, I had to backup my mail by
copying the entire folder from the hidden AppData\Local\Microsoft folder.
Then I had to reinstall Vista, and I copied the Windows Mail folder to the
same location on the new install. Windows Mail works fine except when I click
Send/Receive or press Ctrl+M. The Task/Errors screen pops up, and it says
"Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Plese review the
list of errors below for more details" ONly there are no errors listed in the
errors window, it's blank. I can Receive All, or Send All, and the program
sends and receives on startup as usual. Anyone know how to fix? thx

I saw a similar problem occur when I still had a trial version of a Norton
antivirus program installed, before I saw the messages here saying that's
not a good idea. What if any antivirus programs do you have?

Trend Micro Antivirus 2007

If you're trying to connect to a Hotmail account through Windows
Mail, this doesn't work. You can download and install Windows
Live Mail, under which Hotmail accounts as well as all the
accounts Windows Mail can handle will work.

If you mean some other account instead, read on.

A recent version of the Trend antivirus program (details not available)
causes various problems in Windows Mail. So do most versions of
the Norton and McAfee antivirus programs. For these programs,
just disabling part or all of the program isn't enough; you have to
uninstall them instead. You may then need to remove your email
account, then restart Windows Mail and create the account again.

If this cures your problem, you may want a replacement antivirus
program that doesn't cause such problems. I recommend either
avast! or AVG, either one with a custom install that tells it to
leave out the part that scans email.

Thank you for your assistance. I've found that Trend Micro Antivirus 2007
was the cause of several other problems in Vista, including a 0x00000050
error that required me to wipe the drive and reinstall the entire OS. I have
removed it.

I also deleted the Windows Mail accounts, restarted the computer, and then
added the accounts again. I still find that when I click the Send/Receive
button or Ctrl-M, the same error pops up (the task window reports that
errors occurred, but no errors are listed.). I have also installed Service
Pack 1 for Vista 64 bit, and still have not resolved the problem. It must
have to do with the fact that I copied the Windows Mail folder instead of
importing things. If there are any more suggestions to fix this problem, I
would sincerely appreciate it.
