Windows Mail and receiving attachments

I do have IE7 and understand that this problem is even worse if you
downloaded IE8

RECEIVING ATTACHMENTS: When I open an email that hase an attachment, I click
on the paper clip. What comes up is this.

In the pop up box at the top is the IE Icon (never seen this before) and
next to it is this AT100146.htm

Below that in the same pop up window is the attachement. In this case it was
two jpg,s. In my old outlook express program, the jpg was active and the
description following the jpg icon which describes what the jpg is is also
active. With windows Mail, the description that follows the jpg icon is
NOT active so when I click on the attachemnt, NOTHING pops up. When I try to
save the jpg attachmet, it defaults to the IE Icon previously mentioned and
when you go to where that was saved and try to open it, you get blue screen.

On the bright side, I have been able to open PDF Files and Excel but Not
Jpg, Gif etc.

The attachments problem that existed with IE8 was fixed several
months ago by Windows Update KB972260.
I suggest you upgrade to IE8.

Speculations only, Gary.
From what I understood, the Op had just recently switched from OE to WM.
Is it possible that his WM has not had all the defaults ?

Are you also speculating?

Huge misunderstanding of my English. I am NOT implying that Gary was
speculating.
The first sentence is meant as : " I am speculating only ". Just like "
Suggestions only ". It refers to the person replying.

I believe you that it was a misunderstanding.

I don't know, but I think the OP should upgrade to IE8 first, and then
see if his symptoms change any.
