If I recieve an email with two attachments I can open on of them without a
problem. When I go to open the second attachment Windows Mail shuts down?

How can I stop this problem?

I'm having the same problem.

Where can a get the free anti-virus software?

Let me guess, you are running Norton antivirus.
That is a known issue caused by a recent update to Norton antivirus.
There may be a newer update that corrects the problem, so
first try updating Norton. If no joy, uninstall and follow up with their
debris removal tool:

If you like, we can recommend a more compatible free antivirus.

If you have Norton Antivirus 2008 or earlier, you are entitled to a free
upgrade to Norton Antivirus 2009. Contact Symantec.

Of the free antivirus programs, the ones that are compatible
with Windows Mail are:

AVG free edition:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff
or
Avast free edition:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

However, with either of those, during the install phase you must select
'custom' install, and then deselect the email scanning module so it won't install.
